Let us introduce “Jyoro Eel FUKUSUKE” in Ogawa town, Hiki county where is a little far from Kawagoe City.
This eel restaurant has more than 160 years history, one of the long-established places.
It’s not Kawagoe Walk… Let’ say “Saitama Walk”. From our hotel, about 1-hour drive or 40-minute ride by Kan-etsu Expressway.
After the entrance, it looks like traditional Japanese style hotel…The guess is right!
We hear that this building used to be as a hotel.
This machine at the entrance counter. Hotel related people immediately notice that it is a telephone switchboard to guest rooms! I think this is not worked now. This is such a historical machine!
The atmosphere is like a high-end hotel or restaurant.
Come close to the bridge.
Under the bridge, eels are swimming in the live-box. We can eat really fresh eels.
Then, let’s go to the dining room.
The painting of this restaurant on the wall at the corridor.
This is the dining room where used to be as a guest room for a hotel.
This article is decorated in the room.
Finally, the cuisine time. We had Lunch at the time. This is Chawan-mushi (a custard-like dish containing shrimp, chicken, mushrooms, vegetables, etc., steamed in a cup). Its texture was soft and tasty.
This is “FUKUSUKE DONBURI” (broiled eel rice bowl). The rice is steeped in the eel sauce. The taste was elegant.
This is “SENGEN JYU” which is larger volume of eel than “FUKUSUKE DONBURI”.^^
The restaurant name is on the backside of lid.
Closer up the ell. Adding Sansyo (zanthoxyli fructus) on the broiled eel, it is really delicious. ^^
“Jyoro Eel FUKUSUKE” is a bit far from Kawagoe City. But you will enjoy not only broiled eels but also the restaurant atmosphere.
